Saddle Bag for Dogs Md: 1085ReviewsThis back pack is exactly what I wanted and is a good value for the price. I couldn't tell from the picture how I was going to fasten it to my dog, but the adjustable straps were just right. At first I was hesitant to buy this pack, after reading some of the negative comments about it. However, after using it for nearly 9 months, I can honestly say it is a terrific product. It adjusted to fit my boxer's broad chest and small middle with no problem...I just tucked the extra strapping up. We've used it nearly every day for her walks, with no noticeable wear. It slows her down so she doesn't pull on the leash (much better for her neck) and provides that extra exercise she needs to reduce her energy. Highly recommended! This product is exactly as described. has nice soft material for dogs "hot zones" so there is no chaffing. Me and my dog both love it. It shipped and arrived to me in the time frame that was given at checkout. I bought this pet backpack for my daughter's dog. It fits well except for the long straps and a bit of looseness. He is still getting used to it but for the most part it has been a successful addition to long walks/hikes in the hill country. I bought this because my 2 yr old husky pulls like crazy when we walk. I've used it for about 1 week now and I notice he seems to get more out of the walk and at the end of the walk he's pulling less. I put one water bottle on each side so far. This week I'm going to increase the weight by putting 2 more bottles. The belly strap was long and I cut it shorter and put some super glue on the ends. So far no problem. For the price, this is the best backpack. The others are way more expensive. Try this one. Average Rating:![]() |

Doggles Dog BackpackReviewsUNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE WOULD I ATTACH A LEASH TO THIS PACK ! I bought this pack for a hyper-kinetic rescued dog (lab/chow mix) I have been working with. When the pack arrived I set about fitting it to the intended wearer, and then I loaded it with a water bottle and a can of dog food on each side. I found the straps a bit difficult to adjust, and could not get a completely satisfactory fit, but this is a one time process. When I set about loading the pack I was particularly disappointed by the zippers. They were of very poor quality, prone to jamming, and they seem likely to break. Overall, there is a feeling of cheapness to the straps and fittings as well, although the pack material itself seems adequate. With care, I think this pack is usable, but I am worried about the possibility of a zipper breaking at an inopportune time. If I were looking for a dog pack to be used for serious trail hiking I would look a bit more. For a pack simply to help give a dog focus, or to carry a few items for an afternoon outing, this pack would be acceptable. As far as using dog packs, the result can be impressive. This dog, while I have been working with him for about 6 weeks, is by nature a high energy animal. He knows the rules, and obeys commands quite well. (I can put him on my sidewalk, drop his leash [ground tethering] and go in the house. When I come back ten minutes later, he will still be there, and will remain until I give him a release command. But on walks, his need to move forward, and his desire to be the lead dog, cause him to make repeated small challenges to my leadership. He isn't a bad dog, by any means, but he has a desire to be dominate (despite being neutered) and you find yourself wishing you had some "doggie-ritalin" in your pocket. The pack, however, makes a dramatic change. It as if all that excess energy of the past was directed at finding something to be doing, and now, at last, he has found something. He becomes focused, almost serious seeming, but in a very relaxed and mellow way. He maintains his position during the walk, focuses more on my leadership, and is no longer trying to slip into taking the lead. I guess everyone needs a sense of purpose in life, even dogs. Horses too, seem to benefit from "having a job". My cats, on the other hand, see their job as finding things for me to do, and being in charge of everyone else. Overall, if you are looking for an inexpensive pack simply to help your dog be a bit calmer and more focused, this pack will work. Be careful not to overload your dog, as this pack isn't exactly an orthopedic marvel. A couple of water bottles and a "free sample" bag of dog food would usually suffice, they just need to feel that they are carrying something, not simply wearing a funny coat. Be sure the load is balanced between the two sides. I like to always include a little dog food, and I make sure that they sniff it and see it go into the pack. After all, what would make more sense to a dog than carrying food? (The answer is: "carrying something really smelly we could all roll around in", but we're not offering our dogs that option!) The dog pack industry could stand to take a few lessons from the saddle industry on protecting the animal and making sure of their comfort. If people are willing to spend thousands for a top quality horse saddle, there should be a market for a top quality $100 to $300 orthopedic dog pack. I would pay that, or even a bit more for a *very* well engineered and manufactured product (but not a gimmicky one - it has to be the "real deal"). But there is also certainly a need for inexpensive packs like this one to be used on moderate walks with light loads. In summary, I would buy this pack again for the intended purpose, but it would be nice to find something with better zippers and straps. We used the backpack for the first time today and when I got home from our walk I noticed that the strap that holds the "D" ring for the leash is comming unstitched. Im pretty sure that it can be mended, but would like to see them use a little bit better materials for the straps especially the one that is responsible for the leash attachment. Other then that I really like the backpack. Moose (our dog) doesn't even notice that he's wearing it, he seems very comfortable and it's very handy for carring multiple items with room to spare. He already gets excited whenever he sees me pick it up!! Also not a huge issue but I'd recommend to distribute the cargo evenly or else the backpack leans to one side. We like the fact that our dog (Giant Schnauser Standard Poodle mix) carries her own stuff. I wasn't sure what size would work best for her, so I got the small. Glad I did. I think the pockets are a little small, we can't go up a size to get bigger pockets as this one just fits. I did loosen the front strap up just a bit this last time out and she did manage to get out of it (after she took off after an animal). But thankfully it is bright red and was easy to spot. I do like the bright red, so it is easier to see she is not a bear (she is all black). Now when we pull out her backpack she knows right away that we are heading to the hills. Average Rating:![]() |

Dairy Association Bag Balm (10oz)ReviewsI had seen the familiar Bag Balm container in drug stores for years before finally buying some. I decided to purchase it after seeing an article about it in the local paper here. It spoke of its history and its superior moisturizing and protective qualities, and, though it was originally designed for use on livestock, it has become extremely popular with people. Like a lot of other folks, I sometimes suffer from dry skin. Especially in the winter time when the air is cold and dry. And when I am out on a hike and my skin is exposed to dry wintry blasts of air continually. A visit to the drug store aisle to check out skin conditioners will serve to enlighten one that they are certainly not alone. There are tons of every kind of skin conditioner one can imagine. All conditioners, or balms, seem to work well at first. They moisten and condition the skin effectively enough. However, the real test comes over time in the hopes that it will well stay that way for a while. That is where this Bag Balm (BB) goes to the head of the class over all others. If you have never seen or used BB before, you may at first be put of by its consistency, which will remind one of a thinner version of Vaseline. Although it is a little thick and gooey like Vaseline, it does not stay in that state for long once it is spread on the skin. It feels at first rather slimy, but quickly dries and forms a very effective coating on the skin. Though you can feel it on your skin for hours after application, it neither feels tacky nor sticks to your clothing. And it is nothing less than superior in its moisturizing properties. Even the driest skin will not see BB just disappear and be in need of another application in just a couple of hours like so many other lotions. Personally I apply it once a day when needed and just forget about it until the next. It is by far the best moisturizing ointment I have ever used anywhere. I have to stop a little short in recommending someone smear BB all over ones arms and legs like a lot of women do with other lotions. Especially if your going to be out and about. It can be used that way of course, but its thickness and consistency may prove to be a little much in that respect. That doesn't mean that some folks may not find its feel all that much to bear up under and use it as an overall lotion. However personally I feel better recommending it for dry patches, and other kinds of skin abrasions. For such use there is absolutely nothing better that I have ever experienced. I routinely spread some on my face when hiking and have never gotten wind burned or suffered dry skin no matter how long I am out there. In conclusion, the "medicinal" scent that other reviewers here have mentioned is barely noticeable to me, and quickly disappears after application in any event. I would have to say that Bag Balm has less fragrance to it than any other lotion that has a scent at all. Also, I am far from being put off by this products original purpose being for use on cattle and other livestock. It has been used far too long by people to be referred to strictly as a veterinary product that has made the crossover. It's my recommendation that if you suffer from relentless dry skin that you don't let its original purpose matter to you either. It is certainly not the first product that was originally created with another use in mind, that eventually was found to have a further benefit in some other area. My experience with Bag Balm is that it works so well on dry skin that it eventually puts itself out of business. That is to say, the dry patches just eventually just stop appearing and you can slack off on its use for quite some time. So unless you live in Death Valley, this 10 oz can of balm should last you a year or more. Its the very best at doing what it is supposed to do, and I highly recommend it... I have just received this recently and wanted to comment. First of all, the medicinal smell is very mild. From the other reviews I was concerned, but it is only noticable for a short time and not too bad at all. If it didn't have a smell, it would just be the same as Vasoline, as it is very simular in consistency. I have yet to see how well it works long term for rashes/etc but so far I think it has potential. 3/5/10 Update: I had some very dry and cracked skin on my hand and used this for 3 days under a bandaid, it totally cleared up and I was happy with the results. Have tried it on other areas with not as much success, but it is worth a try for sure. Much like Vasoline but with some medicated properties. I purchased Bag Balm for the first time about a month ago for use on severely dry skin, primarily on my elbows, feet, and hands. It works very well and my skin feels much better. Prior to this, I had tried many different moisturizers (none of which worked as well). I have very sensitive skin and I didn't have a bad reaction to the product. My only negative about the Bag Balm is that it leaves a greasy film on your skin after application. Used to purchase at Costco, discontinue there so was very pleased to receive it from Amazon online. This is an age old remedy for cuts and chaffed skin. Basically Vaseline with antiseptic additives. Works great for a host of minor skin irritations. Great for rough hands. Product was received soon after ordering. I have used Bag Balm as a soothing moisturizing cream on my feet for a number of years. It is a veterinary product, of course, and human use is at one's discretion. I suspect that it is more widely used on humans than on cow udders. Probably the lanolin is the effective ingredient; the 8-hydroxyquinoline is present at only 0.3%, and there may be some question about just how safe that ingredient is. Average Rating:![]() |

Booq Mamba Saddle (Black) for 13-15" notebooksReviewsI'm a bit of a bagaholic, and I've owned bags by CourierWear, Tom Bihn, Waterfield, Crumpler, and a whole bunch of other boutique makers. Over the years, Booq and CourierWear have become my favorites, each representing one end of a wide spectrum from highly structured to totally unstructured, respectively. This category of bag is really a whole step above most offerings from makers like Timbuk2, Keenes, etc. I own three Booq bags, and this Mamba Saddle is my least favorite of them. Overall, it's a decent bag and SUPER well constructed. (Booq somehow builds stylish objects which are also built like tanks.) This particular bag is configured unlike nearly any other, so it definitely stands out from the pack, so if that's your goal, give it a good look. POSITIVES: -- Booq's build quality and laptop protection really are among the very very best out there. -- Pockets inside are numerous, highly structured, and come in a WIDE variety of shapes and sizes. If you like to compartmentalize your bag, this bag does so pretty nicely and gives you lots of options. Mine came with a little matching gearbag as well for cords and such. -- The laptop compartment offers ample protection and fits both a 13" and 15" laptop with room to spare for a folio or slim notebook -- The strap is nice and comfy seatbelt material. NEGATIVES: -- The bag has flat pockets on front and back (the larger back one has a magnetic dot to keep it closed). These are the ONLY outside pockets, which ends up being a pretty major limitation of the bag. Neither of these pockets is terribly useful (because the front one is too small, and the back one tends to get lost when it's against your back...) -- the bag unzips in a giant U shape... which basically means that you are letting the front "fall out forward" so that you can access stuff inside the main compartment. (Essentially, the bag is configured as a big wedge shape, so when it's closed, the zipper is more or less pinching the top of the main compartment together to shut it. -- I'm able to comfortably carry a laptop, some files, a DSLR and an extra lens, and all the requisite "go bag stuff" as well (earbuds, mouse, powercords etc.) however this comfortably fills the bag and leaves little extra room. -- The overall form factor of this bag makes it difficult to use. The main zipper configuration means it's hard to open when it's on your shoulder (and the lack of external pockets means you have to!). The main compartment is basically a big wedge shape (widest part at the bottom) so that you really need to FULLY open the bag to get to items in the bottom of it... which requires that you set the bag down. -- The pockets inside are either have openings that are either too tight for my (medium sized) hands, or so loose that things fall out of them. -- Annoyingly, booq's unique "terralinq" tag (a great idea) is located in a spot where it's bound to scratch the contents of things you store in the bag (so I put tape over mine). -- The bag basically will not quite stand upright when it's loaded normally. Annoying for sure. Booq is my favorite maker of structured bags, so I was very disappointed with this one. My other booq bags are a Booq Taipan Slimcase M, Black for 15 Inch Notebooks and an older Folee XL--which is as near perfect a laptop bag is it gets. Average Rating:![]() |

Toshiba Ballistic Nylon - carrying case ( PA1389U-1NCS )ReviewsI've owned this carrying case for three months now, and I really like it. First, it's functional w/o a lot of bulk; the last thing I wanted was a huge tote bag kind of thing. I mean, they have their uses, but I was looking for a laptop case, not a gigantic piece of luggage. This case will hold your laptop & accessories just fine, and a few personal items too. The balistic nylon construction is A-1 top notch and provides adequate protection from dings. The padded shoulder strap is comfortable, as are the thick padded carry handles. There are plenty of pockets, and even internal pockets/dividers within the two larger pockets. There is one drawback to this case, however. When I bought it, I thought it had more room than I would _ever_ need or use; but it seems to have filled up rather quickly, and things are a bit cramped in there right now. Just to give you an idea of its capacity, mine currently has in it: 15.4" laptop (and that's as big as will fit in it, BTW), AC power adapter, cooler fan, web cam, headset w/mic, mouse, USB hub, card reader, USB flash drives in protective case, external hard drive in protective case, wireless-N adaptor, my prescription glasses, a couple backup memory modules (in clamshell cases), and other misc items like cables, CDs, documentation, etc. I could still squeeze in a little more, but not much; and really, it's the headset that's the problem (those dang ear muff pieces that don't fold). Remove the headset and the usable space increases significantly. Even with the headset, however, everything still fits into a compact portable package. If I was travelling, I could put tickets & other paperwork into the document pouch on the backside, too, plus it has a strap to slide over your suitcase's pull handle. It's a nice case. Grab one while you can, because it looks like Toshiba might have discontinued the item, because it's no longer available on the Toshiba Direct website at the time of this review. Cole Haan Hand-Stained Pebble Grain Leather Kindle Cover with Hinge (Fits 6" Display, Latest Generation Kindle), Saddle TanReviewsthis is a terrific cover, although a bit expensive. it feels great to hold, sleek and soft and lovely. It was a little hard to instal on the Kindle, but once in it's really sturdy. I first tried the new standard Amazon case for the Kindle 2 and could not live with the synthetic leather and strong smell. After much consideration I ended up ordering this case which does seem overpriced. The quality however is nothing short of outstanding. Cole Haan did use their best materials here and it trully exceeded my expectations. You do get what you pay for and sometimes a little more than that. I am the mom of 3 kids. My youngest being a 2yr old monster named Michael. Ordinarily I keep my Kindle safely stowed away from my little monster. Yesterday was the first day since I got my Kindle that I totally forgot to take it off of the nightstand in the morning. It doesn't shock me that my little one found the Kindle on the nightstand. It also doesn't shock me that he decided to pour the glass of water that was next to my Kindle all over the cover. What does shock me is that both the Kindle and the Cole Haan cover survived the attack. The water never soaked through the cover enough to get to the Kindle. The cover itself was soaked. The Kindle bone dry. I removed the cover from the Kindle and laid it out flat to dry on my counter. It dried within hours and is not water stained at all! This cover is phenomenal. I bought it this cover solely based on its appearance. Obviously I should have based my decision on durability. This cover is pricey but so worth it. It is not just beautiful to look at, it is a great protector also. I originally ordered Amazon's own cover with my Kindle, but was disappointed in it. Sure it worked well, the hinge mechanism is great and it does cover the Kindle, you get what you pay for and this just didn't smell of leather. The Cole Haan cover is thing of beauty. It is luxuriously made, in soft leather with a wonderful suede lining. It has the hinge mechanism, which securely attaches it to the Kindle. The cover is comfortable to hold and easily folds back so it can be held in one hand. Best of all is has a delicious leather smell, which I love...gorgeous! It is well worth the money paid for it, it is smart, elegant and will I'm sure last. I have had this cover for my Kindle 2 for 7 months. I love the soft leather smooth outside and suede feel of the inside. The stitching is precise and spine hooking into the Kindle is totally secure. It is durable, though there are a few scuffs acquired over the months of heavy use - I think it adds character. The cover folds back nicely which I like to do while reading and there are no creases in the leather from doing that. I prefer this softer cover to the stiffer one my daughter has for her Kindle - to me, it's been well worth the price. Average Rating:![]() |
